Frequently asked questions about working with JLA Interiors
-
As a designer, my job is not only to create a beautiful space, but to bring clarity and intention to the entire process.
Many homeowners who go it alone end up spending more money in the long run through costly mistakes, purchases that don’t work, and decisions made without a full picture of how the space comes together.
Professional designers bring a clear process, a trained eye, and the kind of objective perspective that’s hard to have when it’s your own home. The result is a space that feels intentional and cohesive rather than pieced together over time.
-
The Design Consultation is a 90-minute in-home session focused on direction and clarity. You’ll leave with professional guidance and a written summary of recommendations.
The Complete Design Plan goes further, delivering a fully resolved design concept including spatial planning, color palette, material selections, curated furnishings, a sourcing guide, and one revision round. If you’re not sure which option is right for your project, the consultation is always the right place to start.
-
For most projects, we recommend starting with a consultation. This allows us to evaluate your space in person and make sure we’re recommending the right service for your needs. If your project scope is already well defined, please feel free to reach out through the contact page, and we can discuss the best path forward directly.
-
Full service projects vary significantly in scope. A primary bathroom renovation and a whole home redesign require very different levels of time, coordination, and resources.
Rather than publish a number that may not reflect your project accurately, we will always provide a detailed proposal outlining scope, timeline, and investment before any work begins.
As a general starting point, full service engagements for living rooms, bedrooms, playrooms, and furniture-focused designs typically begin at $9,500. Projects involving kitchens and large-scale renovations typically begin at $15,500 due to the additional scope and coordination requirements.
-
We offer flexible pricing based on project type and complexity. After an initial conversation, we’ll provide a transparent quote with no hidden costs.
-
Yes. While JLA Interiors is based in the Fresno-Clovis area and primarily serves the Central Valley, we’re happy to consider select projects outside the region.
Depending on your location and needs, this may include a combination of virtual meetings and scheduled site visits. Reach out, and we can talk through what makes the most sense for your project.
-
Absolutely. Many newer or builder-grade homes offer an excellent starting point. What interior design does is transform that foundation into a home that feels personal, thoughtful, and uniquely yours.
You may still be in the building process and need help selecting materials, or maybe you’ve lived in your home for years and something still doesn’t feel quite right. Either way, our goal is to help you create a home that feels like it was made for you.
-
For full-service projects, we work closely with your contractor and trades to help make sure the design comes together as intended. If you already have a contractor, we’re happy to collaborate with them throughout the process. If not, we can share trusted recommendations to help you get started.
While we coordinate closely, contractor hiring and agreements remain directly between you and your contractor.
-
Absolutely. Many projects incorporate existing pieces, such as furniture, art, and sentimental items, into a new design direction. Understanding what you already have and what’s worth keeping is part of our process. Starting fresh is never a requirement.
-
For Concept Design Package clients who prefer to purchase independently, your sourcing guide may include affiliate links on select items at no additional cost to you. This never influences a design decision. Every recommendation is based solely on what’s right for your space.
If you’d prefer to hand off purchasing entirely after receiving your plan or want trade-only products, procurement can be added as a separate service.
-
For full-service projects, all furnishings, materials, and other purchased items are billed separately from the design fee. This allows us to manage the sourcing, ordering, tracking, and coordination process on your behalf while providing access to our network of trusted vendors and trade resources.
In many cases, we're able to secure preferred pricing through our trade accounts and strive to pass along a portion of those savings to our clients whenever possible.
-
Every project moves at a slightly different pace, but a Concept Design Package typically takes about two to four weeks from kickoff to delivery.
For Full-Service Projects, timelines depend on the scope of work, contractor schedules, and lead times for furnishings and materials. Before anything begins, you’ll receive a clear timeline so you always know what to expect and what’s coming next.
-
Kitchens and bathrooms tend to involve more moving pieces than other spaces, such as layout decisions, material selections, and trade coordination, and these decisions carry real consequences if not managed carefully.
For that reason, we prefer to stay closely involved to help everything come together thoughtfully and avoid costly mistakes. For that reason, kitchens, bathrooms, and renovation projects are offered through full-service design only.
